“Promoting health, fitness, running, and exercise all while enjoying the beauty of the City of Angels at night is a great way to kick off and set the pace for the new year,” stated New Year’s Race Ambassador and Marathon Athlete Nadia Ruiz-‐Gonzales, who was recently honored for her achievement earlier this year as being the youngest female to run 100 marathons as recognized by the Guinness World of Book Records.

Now in its second year, the New Year’s Race welcomes Fitness Ambassador Mr. Tonnell Rodrigue to help further the importance of health and fitness in Los Angeles. “Living a healthy lifestyle incorporating fitness, cardio and weight training into the mix, makes life more enjoyable. I want to inspire fellow Angelenos, especially young kids and anyone who wants to live a healthier life to jump start the new year by participating in the 2014 New Year’s Race in Los Angeles,” said Tonnell Rodrigue, New Year’s Race Fitness Ambassador.

Two of the top main attractions for the New Year’s Race ½ Marathon course are the Taiko Drummers, who will be placed along Cesar Chavez Ave. at the entrance of the Chinatown Dragon monument, and the experience of running inside and through Dodger Stadium.

The 5km & ½ Marathon will start at 7pm at the intersection of 7th Street and Grand Ave., while the Kid’s Fun Run will start at 5pm at 12th Street and Flower Street both in Downtown Los Angeles. All races will have a finish line and celebration zone located at 1220 S. Figueroa Street in Downtown Los Angeles near L.A. Live. All participants will be awarded a finisher’s medal souvenir. Registration will end until capacity is reached.

The Health & Fitness Expo component of the New Year’s Race will begin on Friday, January 3rd, 2014 from 9:00am, and conclude on Saturday, January 4th, 2014 at 5pm at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel located at 506 S. Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90071 inside both the Biltmore Bowl and Regency Rooms.

“It is exciting to know that the New Year’s Race – Los Angeles at Night is rapidly becoming a local tradition and a world-‐wide attraction for local families and holiday visitors from abroad,” added Robert Larmore, Race Director, New Year’s Race.
